Books

I got a bad grade on my Norwegian writing and my teacher recommended me to read more in Norwegian. Gonna have to put away English reading for a while now. Goodbye infinite jest..for now.

Currently reading:

I have been wanting to learn a bit more about Mark fishers Observations on the (more modern) society (written in around 2009). As well as learning more about the works of capitalism on my own mind. So far i like to wonder about parrarels between the behaviour Mark Firsher exsplains and the behaviours i can guess/see today like: "cant imagine anything else than capitalism", nihilistic hedonism, endless repetition in culture, mind-numbness of pop-culture. I am on my way trying to tackle down David Foster Wallaces Infinite Jest!Although ill have to wait for now
I have read some of his shorter writings as well as listened to most of his interviews
I even watched the movie The end of the tour!(i recomend)

Walden was a very calming book to read. It is about the authour (Thoreau) that decides to live away in the woods in a small cabin he built from himself, as solitary and as cheap as possible. It has philosophical ramblings about how society dirties the soul of the individual pepole and also descriptions to how he lived that way he lived. There is literally a whole chapter about growing beans. The writing was so intruiging and fluent that it motivated and made me want to try to write as well, but i sometimes got bored and skipped some parts lol. The philosophy was Very striking to me because of his talk about individualism shaped by chosen principles that exist trough art, and a leisure time spent in nature and in contemplation. I think i would like to write more about Thoreaus thoughts and writings. Thoreau made me wonder about how i can really pay attention and observe what is going on. Meditation is great here because it quiets down the mind, also made me want to waddle out in nature all alone and enjoy the time there, very lovley. I would especially recomend Thoreau for anyone interested in writing too because his writing is so unique compared to others i have read
